I only went
to Disneyland once as a child at the age of 3. I never had the
opportunity to go as a kid outside of that. Now that I have my own
children, and we finally went to Disneyland and Disneyworld, I am totally
obsessed.
I have
always enjoyed amusement parks. I am not a camping, boating, roughing it
kind of girl. I want a nice hotel room, someone to deal with meals, and
just to relax and have fun. As long as the amusement park is not overly
crowded, then I am good to go! I like being in that atmosphere that
encourages fun and adventure, where you are moving around and seeing something
different as you go. I struggle with sitting at a pool or beach, just
sitting there looking at a never changing environment.
We use to visit
Disneyland a few times a year when we were stationed nearby at Camp Pendleton,
yep we are a military family.
Now, we are
preparing for trip number 5 to Disneyworld in just one week. And each
trip we have done something different, learned some new tips, and had just a
little bit better trip.
Our first
trip was March 2011, in celebration of my husband’s R&R during the middle
of his deployment. This trip was in celebration of him meeting our son
for the first time, and our first time to Disneyworld. This trip was a
splurge, we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and didn’t get the dining plan.
Our son was 3 months old, and our daughter was 3.5 years old. We
were truly newbies!
Our second
trip was September 2012, for a girls only trip. It was myself, my
daughter, my best friend and her daughter. The girls were about 4 years
old (and that feels like forever ago!). We stayed at Pop Century, and had the
Deluxe dining plan. And boy was that a LOT of food. This started my love
for the dining plan.
Our third
trip was for the family in April 2013. We opted to stay at the Caribbean
Beach resort so the kids could have the pirate themed room. It was a LOT
of fun, but man that hotel is HUGE. Again, we had the Deluxe dining plan and
felt the trip was too focused on eating and using up the meal credits.
The last
trip was August 2014, where we stayed at All Star Sports with just the regular
dining plan. This was our first time driving to Disneyworld, and we got
to do a lot more then we usually did.
And the trip
coming up…. I am excited to see how this one goes. This time we are
celebrating my husband’s promotion and giving the kids a little buffer and fun
due to our relocating from virginia to north carolina, which neither of them
are happy about doing.
